Heard about the $9/month plan and now you are trying to understand how to use the Shopify Lite plan for your business?
I will tell you here what this plan is all about, how it works, when, and how to use it for getting more sales with your business.
First of all:
What Is The Shopify Lite Plan?
Shopify Lite is a plan that allows you to leverage the powerful admin dashboard and Shopify apps to sell your products, manage inventory and orders, and accept payments on different places such as an existing website, a Facebook page, or an Instagram account without the need to set up a store on Shopify.
And this plan costs only $9/month for the main Shopify features that you will have the ability to use.
This plan can be good for those who have a website or a blog on WordPress or some other CMS, or for those who have a Facebook page or an Instagram profile, and want to list their products to sell them and accept payments on one of these places wihtout setting up a complete store on Shopify.
How to Use Shopify Lite?
You can use Shopify Lite in order to list products on your existing website, a Facebook page, or an Instagram profile, and sell them and accept payments without the need to build a complete store on Shopify.
Here are the steps of using Shopify Lite:
- Sign up for the 14-day trial of Shopify Lite plan.
- Start adding products with images, description, prices, …etc.
- Connect your account with the payment gatways you plan to use and finish other settings like the important pages.
- Set up the sales channels you want to use (FB, IG, Buy Button, …etc.)
- Start adding products and collections to the places you have through the sales channels (On a FB page, IG profile, or a WP site).
By using the Shopify Lite plan, you can access the admin dashboard that is powered by Shopify and start adding products and collections, specify prices, connect to payment gateways, and then list the products on a Facebook page or Instagram profile, or embed them on a website you have with a “Buy Now” button.
And when someone sees these products on your website, or on the FB page or IG profile, they might click the “Add to Cart” or “Buy Now” button, and they will be directed to a cart page or a checkout page that is powered by Shopify.
And when they finish the checkout process and buy something, you will see the order in your admin dashboard, and you can fulfill it and manage it from there.
Also, you can use Shopify Lite in order to get the point of sale feature and start accepting payments in-store or anywhere in person through the Shopify POS app and the mobile card reader.
How to Use Shopify Lite on Facebook?
You can use Shopify Lite on Facebook in the same way you integrate Shopify with Facebook through other plans, by creating your Shopify Lite account, adding products, description, and prices, and then connecting your Shopify Lite account with a Facebook page that you own or manage.
You do this from the left sidebar in the Shopify admin dashboard, in the Sales Channels tab, you install the Facebook sales channel app, and then the Facebook option will appear under the Sales Channels tab.
Now you can follow simple steps by choosing to which FB page you want to connect your Shopify Lite account.
The result will be that your Facebook page will now have a tab that is called “Shop”, where your audience can see all the collections and products that you sell, see the prices and descriptions, …etc.
And if they like a product, they can click the “Add to Card” button that is associated with each product on the Facebook Shop, and they will be redirected to the cart or checkout page to finish the order and pay you.
And you can either bring people to your Facebook page organically, or use paid FB ads, and connect your Facebook pixel with your Shopify Lite account in order to optimize your ads for conversions, and use other FB ads features such as the retargetting, custom audiences, lookalike audiences, …etc.
How to Use Shopify Lite on Instagram?
You can use Shopify Lite on Instagram similar to how you integrate Shopify with Instagram through any other plan, by starting your Shopify Lite account, adding products with their prices, and then connecting the Shopify Lite account with an Instagram profile that you own or manage.
You do this by first installing the Facebook sales channel app like the previous section above, and then, through the Sales Channels section in your Shopify Lite dashboard, you choose Facebook, then you choose the “Instagram Shopping” option, and you need to specify an Instagram profile that is already connected to a Facebook page that is managed by your FB business account.
After finishing the setup, you can now list your products on your Instagram profile in the news feed or in the story section, and they will be tagged with the Product Tag that shows the price, and when someone clicks through to purchase them, similar to what happens on FB, they get directed to the cart or checkout page that is powered by Shopify, where they can pay and complete the order.
And you can either show the products to your IG followers organically, or you can create ads to show these products to a bigger audience, and leverage the power of the Facebook Pixel to optimize your campaigns and use custom audiences.
How to Use Shopify Lite on WordPress?
You can use Shopify Lite on WordPress the same way you integrate WorPress with any Shopify plan, by first signing up for a Shopify Lite plan, adding products and connecting to payment gateways, and then you need to install the Buy Button sales channel.
After that, from the Buy Button option under the “Sales Channels” tab, you select Buy Button, and then you click the “Create Buy Button” button, and you need to select the product or the collection you want to promote on your WordPress site.
And then, you will get a code that you can copy and paste in the text editor of WordPress on the page you want to show the product or the collection, and save.
Then, when someone visits that page and see the product or the collection you embedded on it, they might click the “Add to Cart” or “Buy Now” button, and they will get directed to the cart or checkout page that is powered by Shopify, where they can complete the order and pay you.
And with these easy-to-follow instructions, you can use the Shopify Lite plan to sell products on Facebook, Instagram, or WordPress with the $9/month plan without having to create a complete store on Shopify itself, which requires signing up for one of the higher plans that start from $29/month.
Conclusion – Is Using Shopify Lite Worth it?
Using the Shopify Lite plan is worth it if you want a way to sell products on Facebook and Instagram without having to build a complete storefront and use a custom domain for a Shopify store like it is with other plans.
Also, it is worth it as it allows you to embed products or collections on a WordPress site and connect it with your preferred payment gateway and start getting sales without having to sign up for one of the higher plans of shopify.
